I worked in a team, with three other doctors, under the guidance of Dr. Kusum Chand ( Consultant Physician, NHMC ), Dr, B.K. Gupta ( Cardiothoracic Surgeon ) and Dr. Prasad V. Mahajan ( Medical Officer ).
This thesis is a bonafide piece of research undertaken during my internship at NHMC and Dr. B.R. Sur Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital. The objective of the project was to clinically evaluate the efficacy of homoeopathic drugs in the mentioned conditions through extensive research work. It was concluded that Homeopathy as a sole line of treatment with a proper general management including dietary restrictions, exercise and relaxation, lifestyle and stress modification, is efficient to maintain the blood pressure, blood sugar levels ( in NIDDM) and the thyroid hormone levels within normal range.
Concomitantly, continuous homoeopathic medication is complementary to allopathic medication and not inimical to it.
The prevention and complications of the mentioned disorders was also simultaneously researched. The palliation of the presenting distressing symptoms in cases with irreversible pathology was attempted successfully. We also concentrated on the health education and advisory work of the patients for an effective general management of the disease ultimately leading to an improvement in the quality of life of our patients.
